Book reviews shouldn't just show you the best parts of the book. They should tell you how to use them to get ahead in the real world.
I love books, but I hate book reviews.
Books can transform the way we see the world. There are so many fine details that don’t fit in a tweet or a post. Those kinds of things can only be found in books.
I want to bring those details front and center. Book reviews don’t need to be long articles in fancy magazines or all about what I want. They should show anybody how they can be better.
Applied Knowledge book reviews will have free posts with short book reviews: what the week’s pick is about and why it’s important.
Later in the week, Applied Knowledge will publish a subscription article on how to use that book to interact better with the real world. Whether it’s a tidbit on how to make sense of the news better or get ahead at work, this in-depth application article will turn a regular book review into actionable steps.
I can’t replace the experience of reading the full book, and I don’t want to. I’d love for these reviews to give readers some great book recommendations. But more than that, I want to show how book knowledge can be used in the real world as well as for fun.
